Eggs, Eggs, Eggs!!!

Yeah, it's official - 1 hen from our 2nd set of chickens (the "teenagers") has started laying eggs! Today was egg #3 in 3 days.

I also noticed that the 2nd "teenager" as well as 1 of the "babies" is about ready to start laying too! Yipee!!!

You might be wondering how someone knows when a chicken is ready to start laying, right? Well, when you reach down to pick her up, she squats down and sits there immobilized with the top of each wing splayed out slightly. In actuality, she's ready for courtship, but she doesn't know that. It makes it easier to catch them too when they escape from their coop run.

By now, you're probably wondering why in the world we even have chickens right? We'll get to that post soon....
